Where the chemistry happens…

The Performance Materials (PM) Supply Chain team is seeking an individual like you to join our Wyandotte, MI based team as a Transportation / Logistics Specialist. Our team oversees $100 million in annual transportation spend and provides transportation and logistics solutions for all modes of transportation. In this role, you will work with colleagues at our 3PL transportation provider, corporate procurement, BASF transportation operations and many other internal/external customers in solving daily issues. In addition, you will utilize a data driven approach to identify and implement transportation and Supply Chain cost improvements as well as drive service KPIs.

As a Transportation and Distribution Analyst, You Create Chemistry By...

  • Driving solutions of daily transportation & distribution issues. Requires the ability to think and act quickly while interfacing with internal BASF functional areas as well as carriers and plant/warehouse personnel.

  • Analyzing freight costs using Microsoft Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot, Power BI and Analysis Office to identify trends and spending anomalies with the goal of reducing overall transportation freight spend.

  • Understanding how to provide rate quotes by mode as requested using rating software and internal tools.

  • Occasionally being involved in high profile Supply Chain Non-Conformances that require intervention to move to completion with robust, sustainable corrective actions. Will require the coordination of NCM meetings with key stakeholders including the customer.

  • Through data analysis, identifying freight savings opportunities within the PM Supply Chain.

  • Supporting special projects that may involve significant contact and relationship building activities with transportation and distribution companies.

  • Utilizing service provider reliability data to drive improvements in carrier service KPI’s.

If you...

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, or a related field and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related Supply Chain, Transportation, or Customer Care function.

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Possess the ability to understand business priorities and make autonomous decisions in a dynamic work environment.

  • Have strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks effectively.

  • Have strong analytical skills with an orientation toward identifying trends and managing details.

  • Can work independently and solve problems with minimal oversight
