Job Title: Tax Consultant

Summary – This is a contingent Opportunity and would begin work upon the contract award.

Zeiders Enterprises, Inc. is seeking candidates for Tax Consultants to support the Military OneSource contract. The Military OneSource contract provides services in support of the Military OneSource Program for military members and their families, similar to a commercial Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This program provides a broad array of information, resources, referrals, and counseling to military Service members, their families, and eligible civilians at locations worldwide. Tax Consultants will assist participants with their tax filing questions and assist with completing their tax returns. This is a remote (work from home) position and support will be provided via video conference, telephone, or chat.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist participants with their tax filing questions and assist with completing their tax returns

  • Understand military-specific tax issues

  • Provide information and education to assist participants in making informed decisions about their tax situation

  • The Tax Consultant will not directly prepare tax documentation for an eligible participant

  • Refer and connect participants to the government-provided free electronic tax filing service

  • Assist participants with access to resources available to them and their specific situation

  • Document all tax consultation cases in the government’s electronic case management system (eCMS).

  • Obtain participant customer feedback after the completion of the tax consultation session.

  • Maintain contractually mandated training requirements.

Required Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • At a minimum, two years of experience as a tax preparer

  • Understand military-specific tax issues

  • Knowledge and understanding of the military lifestyle

  • Comprehensive and current knowledge of tax preparation, military culture and life training, and current issues affecting military families (e.g., relocation, separation, and deployments).

  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Understanding, sensitivity, and empathy for Service members and their family members.

  • Ability to develop trusting helping relationships.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Ability to use sound professional judgment, ethical practice, and common sense.

  • US Citizen

  • Must pass a pre-employment background check

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience that provides the individual with the ability to serve as a tax consultant

  • Certification as an Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant

  • National certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor® (AFC), Certified Financial Planner® (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC)

  • Experience providing financial counseling/consultation remotely

  • Experience working in a call center environment

  • Fluent in Spanish

Other Skills and Abilities

This position requires travel and access to U.S. Government facilities and systems. U.S. Citizenship, a valid driver's license, transportation, and auto insurance are required.

Physical Demands: Works in office areas. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. Training Curriculum Specialist uses a personal computer, telephones, copiers, printers, and other office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Pay Range: $65,000 - $77,000

PLEASE NOTE: The Zeiders pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
