About the Role

Operates the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for inspection of product. Performs all dimensional layouts using coordinate measuring equipment and prepares layout reports. Assists production in interpreting specifications and inspection procedures.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Mechanical Degree/Diploma from Community College with a minimum of three (3) years experience in programming and operating a CMM

  • Detailed understanding of GD&T

  • Comprehensive knowledge of MSA

  • Good organization and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Good computer skills including PC DMIS based application programs, Windows, MS 0ffice (Word, Excel, Access), etc

  • Ability to set-up and manage a comprehensive gauge control system, including calibration and fixture verification

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

  • Knowledge of 3D scanning using VX Elements and Polyworks

DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of Minitab

  • Automotive manufacturing experience

Your Responsibilities

  • Develops PC DMIS based application programs to dimensionally verify assemblies being produced and supplied to the OEM

  • Develop and debug PC-DMIS based application programs to dimensionally certify gages being supplied

  • Upon receipt of new gages or test fixtures, aide in facilitating the process to define the method, execution, and documentation along with the reporting of gage validation that includes at a minimum; bias, repeatability, reproducibility, stability and linearity studies per the procedures defined in the current AIAG Measurement System Analysis guideline

  • When encountering a non-conformance, evaluate all possible root causes especially as they might relate to either the function or datum’s, loading methods, the measuring devices being used, the gage or fixture capability, or integrity of the sample population

  • Document such non-conformances including their observations and/or conclusions relative to a possible root cause

  • Immediately communicate the occurrence of the non-conformance to the applicable personnel

  • Investigate and obtain quotes for metrology lab expenditures including;

  • Repair or maintenance of current equipment

  • Calibration services conducted either internally or externally

  • Prepare CMM dimensional reports and associated statistics

  • Interface with team members to review the data and resolve any related measurement disputes through company production personnel that make equipment adjustments

  • Produce reports and statistics to meet customer requirements

  • Have the ability to technically discuss measurement results with team members and customer representatives

  • Capable of performing GR&R studies

  • Retain samples – log and maintain

Who we are looking for

Automotive manufacturing experience. Have worked with fixtures and very good knowledge of GD&T

Wages $30 - 35ph
