Millerbernd Manufacturing Co. Project Estimator (onsite role) in Winsted, Minnesota

NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is hiring a Project Estimator to join our team! This role is responsible for creating accurate bills of material based off of DOT/County/Municipality plans, specifications, and technical drawings to be delivered to Account Manager for pricing activities. Works closely with internal and external civil and structural engineers, and utilize engineering software tools for accurate design, sizing, and weights for cost build-ups. This is an onsite opportunity based in Winsted, MN.

As a Project Estimator, you will:

  • Accurately interpret technical documents and plans for bill of material generation

  • Maintain and update tools, standards, and processes for continuous improvement

  • Drive resolution to specification changes, design changes, and internal feedback

  • Collect key construction documents, such as plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications

  • Interpret plans and specifications from DOTs, Cities, Counties, Municipalities, and Engineering Firms

  • Create accurate Bills of Material for delivery to Account Manager for pricing

  • Support sustained sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers as needed

  • Collaborate with Sales Team on prioritization and support on-time delivery of quotations

  • Support best-in-class customer service in a fast-paced environment

  • Keep informed of industry changes, participates where possible in organizations directly involved with our prime markets, and continually works to improve team knowledge

  • Understand production capabilities and create aligned bills of material

    Role Qualifications as a Project Estimator:

  • Preferred candidates will have an Associate’s Degree in a technical field, and two (2) or more years of experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, drafting, or another technical field. Other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered.

  • Expert knowledge in interpreting technical specifications, mechanical drawings, and engineering plans

  • Effective skills in math, including; fractions, decimals, and basic algebraic expressions

  • Ability to handle multiple internal demands simultaneously, and ability to change priorities without prior notification

  • Use effective and appropriate written and oral communication skills, including; requests for information, prioritization, and engineering plan requests

  • Collaborative approach with others as part of a high-performing team

  • Effective user in MS Office applications, particularly using Outlook and Excel

  • Effective user of ERP systems, especially Epicor
