Cerelia Bakery Canada LP Quality Assurance Supervisor-1st Shift in Whitehall, Ohio

The QA Supervisor position is a hands-on role responsible for leading and managing all quality assurance activities to ensure that products and processes meet customer specifications and comply with regulatory requirements. This role includes supervising, coaching, training, and developing quality assurance technicians. Additionally, the QA Supervisor oversees product testing and implements quality assurance protocols to maintain product safety and quality.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Supervise and lead quality assurance technicians through team huddle meetings and one-on-one meetings.

  • Provide training and guidance to quality assurance technicians on current and new processes.

  • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

    Quality Assurance Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP, Safety) and provide the necessary training and communication changes on each initiative.

  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.

  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet SQF, regulatory, company, and customer requirements.

  • Collaborate with other department supervisors/managers to enforce the Food Safety Program and work with QA to resolve food safety issue related to sanitation.

  • Responsible for GMP/ Food safety refresher training for all associates and onboarding GMP/ Food Safety training for new employees.

    Product Testing, Inspection, and Reporting:

  • Oversee the testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.

  • Ensure proper documentation of test results and quality inspections.

  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, including customer complaints and product recalls.

  • Review and file daily regulatory paperwork .

  • Maintain the Environmental Monitoring Program which includes scheduling environmental swabbing and samples preparation.

    Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes.

  • Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain & Logistics and Engineering/ Maintenance teams to enhance product quality.

  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues.

    Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay current with industry regulations and standards.

  • Ensure that all products comply with relevant food safety and quality regulations.

  • Prepare for external audits and inspections.

    Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of quality control activities and test results.

  • Prepare and present quality reports to senior management.

  • Track and analyze quality metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Follow company safety policies and practices to foster a safe workplace and environment for ourselves and our co-workers.

  • Makes SAFETY a priority, while carrying out daily activities.

  • Maintains a safe, clean, and sanitary working environment always.

    Requirements

    Education and/or Experience:

  • 5 years of r elevant quality assurance experience, preferably in food manufacturing or an associate or bachelor’s degree in related field (Quality Assurance, Food Science, Chemistry, etc.) is preferred .

  • Knowledge of SQF, HACCP microbiological and sanitation concepts.

  • Experience with regulatory concepts (Kosher, Organic, RSPO, Non-GMO, Gluten Free) is preferred.

  • Functional knowledge and use of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook.

    Communication and Analytical Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to make decisions independently.

  • Ability to plan workload accordingly to team’s availability, production schedule, and any unexpected circumstances.

  • Capa bility to escalate food safety and quality issues to management team and assist in resolv ing issues.

  • Must be organized, detail - oriented, possess good troubleshooting skills, and be able to prioritize work effectively.

  • Ability to work independently with or without supervision.

  • Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, and accept constructive criticism.
