How will you make an impact in this role?
The Global Network Services Segment Controllership role is a key role in providing business advisory and accounting guidance to the Amex Global Network Services (GNS) line of business. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working closely with business partners and providing appropriate and timely accounting guidance in accordance with US GAAP and Amex accounting policies;
Document the accounting conclusions in an accurate, clear and comprehensive manner;
Lead/Support business growth initiatives and complex accounting issues for the Global Network Services line of business;
Lead/support key Controllership projects;
Cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with key Business and Finance partners, as well as Accounting & Reporting counterparts within broader Controllership organization;
Partner with functional areas of Controllership and Finance to efficiently embed accounting processes;
Conduct operational accounting reviews to assist in finding opportunities to strengthen the financial control environment;
Support review of monthly/quarterly senior leadership pages for presentation (deals update, exception, closed issues etc.);
Support cross-functional team trainings for key accounting policies and business advisory topics;
Conduct deep dive accounting analysis where needed for strong governance and accuracy of accounting.
Qualifications :
Fully / part qualified accountant, or equivalent experience or studying towards a Professional Finance qualification is preferred (CIMA/ACCA/MBA) with proven experience.
Ability to articulate accounting concepts in clear & concise manner to non-finance leaders
Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills
Good analytical skills and able to connect business drivers and linkages
Conversant with Oracle/ERP system and proficient in use of MS-Office is preferred
Knowledge of payment industry is desirable
US GAAP & IFRS knowledge would be an added advantage
