POSITION DUTIES
The Physician, Infectious Diseases will provide and manage direct patient care for adult medicine service patients and subspecialty patients. Position entails preventing, diagnosing, and treating infections and requires an extensive understanding of the way in which bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections occur in humans and how they present clinically, as well as knowledge about antimicrobial agents, antibiotic resistance, vaccines, and other immunobiological agents. Physician will participate in diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases including Clostridium Difficile, E. coli, Hepatis, HIV/AIDS, Lyme disease, Measles, Mpox, Mumbps, Tuberculosis, et al. The physician may utilize pathology lab tests, CAT scans, and MRIs to perform diagnoses and will conduct physical examinations. They will prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate for the assessed conditions. They will provide clinical education to medical students and residents engaged in Infectious Diseases rotations and direct and coordinate the patient care activities of nursing and support staff. The physician may consult with or refer to other medical specialties in difficult cases.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from accredited school of medicine or foreign equivalent
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
PA medical license
RESIDENCY/FELLOWSHIP
Completion of accredited 36-month medical residency program and 24-month fellowship in Infectious Diseases
OTHER SPECIAL SKILLS OR REQUIREMENTS
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Infectious Disease
