Manager of Job Development Day Program

The Manager of Job Development is responsible for both exploring job openings and opportunities in the community for the people we support as well as identifying the career desires of the people we support, so that they can match the right people to the right jobs in the community. This role involves cultivating relationships with local businesses, conducting job searches, and providing ongoing support to both job seekers and employers to ensure successful job placements. Takes on Community Connections Projects as assigned including job development, advocacy and other activities that connects Marrakech and its staff and individuals served to the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for assisting individuals with finding suitable employment opportunities within the community Conduct career planning to support individuals in achieving their employment goals.

  • Leads job development efforts to ensure appropriate job matches are sought and found for all individuals. Seeks and secures employment for the people we serve that match their strengths, needs, and preferences.

  • Conducts/advocates for activities/employment that will increase economic self-sufficiency and self-image (i.e. increase workers' earnings and hours)

  • Actively reaches out to employers statewide to identify job opportunities.

  • Maintains regular contact with employers for the purpose of developing job leads and facilitating retention.

  • Attends job fairs, networking events, and community meetings to expand the network of potential employers and job opportunities.

  • Attends community networking events and develops relationships with potential employers, volunteer settings, mentoring and other connections for the people we support.

  • Conducts ongoing job development activities with employers across the Greater New Haven area

  • Provides job coaching, workplace support when needed.

  • Counsels program participants regarding work-related issues individually and through holding Job Club

  • Assists program participants in determining their employment plans and conduct job development activities Review and develop meaningful employment assessments.

  • Establishes and increase employment opportunities in the community for individual and group placements Attend relevant team meetings reviews and other required meetings.

  • Attends and participates with the Business Advisory Committee Meetings Communicates job leads, interviews, progress, etc. with colleagues

  • Attends training and seminars regarding best practices for employment, keeps us to date on new practices

  • Provides training in job coaching, job development and community integration for staff

  • Works with funders to develop best practices in employment supports and services

  • Attends and obtain the DDS Customized Employment Certification Obtain the Certified Employment Support Professional Certification through APSE.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s degree in special education, Human Services or related field preferred. At least three years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities and/or other disabilities or barriers in a community-based employment program.

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid CT Driver’s license

  • DDS Medication Certification

  • PMT

SCHEDULE:

  • M-F 8a-4p

SALARY

  • $20.11/hr, increases to $20.57/hr after 6 months
