Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic VP Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to lead our financial planning, forecasting, and analysis functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and will have a deep understanding of the insurance industry, in addition to having exceptional analytical skills and a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams (particularly with Investment & Actuarial teams) to drive financial performance and strategic initiatives.

Accountabilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and projections.

Financial Planning and Forecasting:

  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of detailed financial models.

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial projections.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to drive business decisions.

  • Evaluate financial implications of strategic initiatives, new product launches, and other business opportunities.

Reporting and Presentation:

  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and career growth.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support:

  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., Investments / Portfolio Management, Actuarial, Treasury / Capital Management, Risk, etc) to provide financial insights and support business initiatives.

  • Partner with IT to ensure robust financial systems and tools are in place for accurate data collection and reporting.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing effective controls and processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Math, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. FSA, MBA or CFA a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate development, and/or actuarial analysis with at least 5 years of management experience.

  • Proven track record of driving financial performance and providing strategic financial leadership.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior management and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting tools, as well as advanced knowledge of Excel and financial software systems.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on developing and mentoring team members.

  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality in financial reporting and analysis.

$174,400.00 - $261,600.00 USD Annual

Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
