Maintenance Mechanic position in Wellsboro Pa.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment within the plant to ensure continuous and efficient operations. This role is crucial for minimizing downtime, enhancing equipment reliability, and supporting overall plant productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance and Repairs:

    • Conduct preventive maintenance on plant machinery and equipment according to established schedules.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to perform repairs on pumps, motors, compressors, conveyors, and other machinery.
    • Replace or repair defective parts, including bearings, belts, gears, and shafts.
  • Installation and Calibration:

    • Install and set up new equipment, ensuring proper alignment and calibration.
    • Assist with the installation of machinery and systems, including performing tests to ensure operational readiness.
  • Technical Support:

    • Provide support to production teams to resolve equipment-related issues promptly and efficiently.
    • Offer technical advice and guidance on proper operation and maintenance procedures for plant equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment performance.
    • Report major mechanical issues or recurring problems to the Maintenance Supervisor and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Ensure that all maintenance work complies with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and plant operations.
    • Stay informed about new technologies and techniques to apply best practices in maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
    • Proven experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
    • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated machinery and control systems.
  • Certification in industrial maintenance or a related field.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations specific to the plant's industry.

Working Conditions:

  • The role involves working in a plant environment, which may be noisy and involve exposure to various industrial hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required.
