Your Opportunity

We are looking for a talented Process Mechanical Sr. Project Manager / Technical Lead focused on the planning and engineering design of water infrastructure projects who wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization that’s focused on helping our clients, colleagues and communities thrive. The role involves identifying, developing, pursuing, and winning projects with new and existing clientele to grow our conveyance trenchless condition assessment and rehabilitation business. The position requires leadership in the execution and delivery of technically complex conveyance projects and provides opportunities for thought leadership through collaboration with research and innovation teams in the development and deployment of innovative technologies. The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen combined with innovative ideas, and a successful history of client relations and account management.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of design professionals and technicians

  • Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams

  • Perform business development/application tasks and collaborates with staff to increase project wins and develop long lasting client relationships. Routine tasks include:

    • Participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals
    • Client facing for business development contact, meetings, walk-downs, and presentations
    • Scope of work documents and estimates
    • Collaboration with multiple business lines to develop opportunities
    • Quality reviews
  • Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.

  • Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned wastewater-related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines. Routine technical tasks include:

    • Design basis documents
    • Engineering calculations including water, heat, and material balances
    • Equipment sizing and selection
    • Engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs)
    • Engineering reports
    • Feasibility studies
    • Presentations to clients, regulatory agencies and/or project stakeholders
    • Quality reviews
  • Assist with planning, design, and construction of linear and vertical infrastructure, including piping, pumping, storage and other appurtenance structures.

  • Lead or support a team in the planning and execution of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for a large, regional program, which will include:

    • Reviewing and providing recommendations on the current CIP.
    • Supporting any updates of the CIP and make recommendations for incorporating new projections into the CIP.
    • Updating the existing prioritization tool, to include data integration, reporting, and updating database, amongst others.
    • Assist the planning of the CIP and risk-based prioritization of water assets and projects.
    • Complete conceptual design reports and all planning documents required.
  • Develop project management plans for projects; establishes goals and objectives for unique and complex projects.

  • Responsible for successfully establishing projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitates independent technical review projects by others.

  • Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel.

  • Accountable for making decisions on large projects. You coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval.

  • Manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams

  • Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects

  • Assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting.

  • Oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort of comparable size.

  • Undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.

  • Broad, general understanding of many relevant areas of municipal engineering, hydraulics, and process mechanical systems design with respect to materials as well as industry standards.

  • General understanding of various construction means and methods and their disturbance impacts on the project site.

  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of design and construction codes.

  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.

  • Proficient with of Microsoft Office Suite. Basic understanding of Revit is a plus.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years related experience in project management, preferably for process mechanical projects.

  • Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within 6 months.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.

  • Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $133,300 - $200,00 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI and MD

  • $143,000 - $214,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA and DC

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
