As a Cloud DbaaS Database Engineer – SQL Expert, you will:

• Design, develop and maintain database services in a cloud environment.

• Design, develop and maintain SQL based database systems such as MYSQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server.

• Perform database design and development.

• Perform Query and DB Optimization: Optimize database queries for better performance, identify bottlenecks and manage indexing, normalization, and denormalization.

• Perform database benchmarking and testing.

• Perform Backup and Recovery: manage data backups to prevent data loss in case of system failures or disasters. Develop recovery plans and conduct regular backups to ensure business continuity.

• Perform engineering and/or administering database systems lifecycle (patches, new releases and functionality enhancements).

• Plan and perform Data Migration and Integration: In scenarios where businesses need to transition from one DBMS to another or integrate data from multiple sources.

• Ensure the security and compliance of database systems and services, adhering to industry best practices.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to SQL based database systems.

• Collaborate with technologists and services teams across Intel to implement solutions.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related filed and 7+ years of experience -OR- a Master's degree in Information Technology, Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related field and 4+ years of experience -OR- a PhD in Information Technology, Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related field and 1+ year of experience in:

7+ years' experience in below areas:

• Designing and operating cloud database systems and services

• Be a subject matter expert in SQL databases (SQL Server, MYSQL, PostgreSQL)

• Designing and operating distributed databases (replication, scaling up, scaling out)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Kubernetes and management of resources using Helm.

• Programming languages (Go, Python, etc.)

• Infrastructure as code (Ansible)

• CI/CD and DevSecOps concepts

• Experience handling massive quantities of data

• Several years of experience designing/ developing solutions to handle large-scale databases.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado, New York, Washington, California: $186,552.00-$279,772.00

*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience

Working Model

This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
