WSP USA Advisory & Planning Business Development Director in Washington, District Of Columbia

WSP is currently initiating a search for the Advisory & Planning Business Development Director. Be involved in projects with our Advisory & Planning (A&P) Business Line and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

The A&P Business Development Director is responsible for driving top line growth as One WSP across the A&P business and with our counterparts within the Transportation & Infrastructure, Earth & Environment, Property & Buildings, Power & Energy, and Federal end-markets. The A&P Business Development Director is a member of A&P's Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to the A&P Business Line Executive (BLE).

Approximately 60-70% of the Advisory & Planning Business Development Director’s activities will be externally focused including the developing and growing of key client relationships, the discovery of opportunities for building the pipeline for all services across A&P, across all WSP end-markets, and maintaining a strong brand image for WSP in the USA within the industry. Internal responsibilities will focus on delivering A&P Business Line's sales goals and key performance indicators, maintaining the growth orientation of A&P's leadership team, and participation in the development and execution of A&P's strategic business plan, including collaborating and partnering with all Business Line leadership to build client engagement plans, and to drive positioning, teaming, and winning capture plans.

Your Impact

  • Partner to develop and implement A&P's strategic plan

  • Early identification of key pursuits from a robust and active pipeline of opportunities

  • Assist in identifying and recruiting key personnel necessary to win and deliver A&P's top opportunities

  • Partnering with A&P's leadership team to develop and monitor business development budgets, civic and professional organization participation, and coaching client engagement teams

  • Performing as the champion and coordinator of A&P's relationships with clients

  • Providing personal engagement and leadership to A&P's major pursuit strategies, proposals, and interview preparations

  • Delivering firm-wide resources to the key initiatives by building and maintaining strong relationships all across WSP business lines, end markets, and regions

  • Partnering with the Strategic Growth Team (SGT) team, who is responsible for the execution of A&P's marketing and sales needs

  • Collaborate with the Regional Business Executive and Government Affairs Team to supervise A&P's civic engagement program

  • Represent A&P through involvement in high-impact client and industry events

  • Foster partnerships in the industry to inform A&P's choices on building teams for the key pursuits

  • Partner with Corporate Communications leadership in developing and implementing the external brand and communications strategy to ensure A&P's clients are aware of the firm’s initiatives, projects, and people

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor in engineering, business or related field

  • Minimum 15 years of infrastructure consulting/management consulting experience, including at least five years of successful experience in developing client relationships and business development and management role for a multi-state region

  • Specific expertise in WSP business lines and established relationships with teaming partners and key client decision makers

  • Demonstrated experience leading by influence

  • Experience in leading and winning major strategic pursuits

  • Excellent communication skills (presenting and writing)

  • Organized, self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit

  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.

  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation, discipline-specific design software, technology, math principles, predictive models, data science, spreadsheets, and tools used in the corporate environment.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree is preferred

  • Experience with managing profit and loss and metrics.

  • Strategic planning experience

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $160,100- $322,300

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $176,000-$295,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
