Summary You will serve as a SOCIAL SCIENCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST in the MANPOWER, PERSONNEL, TRAINING AND EDUCATION DIVISION of NAVY CULTURE AND FORCE RESILIENCE OFFICE PAY WILL VARY DEPENDING UPON LOCATION: Naval Personnel Center, Millington, Tennessee - Pay ranges from $103,409 - $134,435 Dam Neck Naval Facility, Virginia Beach, Virginia - Pay ranges from $104,861 - $136,323 Naval Support Facility, Arlington, Virginia - Pay ranges from $117962 - $153,354 Responsibilities You will serve as an action officer, social science analyst, and advisor to the Section Lead of Behavior Research and Development You will analyze prevention best practices, public health, and prevention science regarding community and individual risk and protective factors to provide assistance in formulating primary prevention policies, programs, practices and processes. You wil locate, research, analyze and report on Sailor and Family Readiness research and development initiatives and data within the Department of the Navy and Department of Defense. You will identify and develop formal research, assessment, and evaluation processes to determine the effects of outreach/prevention programs and recommend outcome measures/metrics that demonstrate program and prevention-related effectiveness. You will plan and organize projects and studies, determine approaches and select analytical methods and theories to achieve desired agency objectives. You will serve as an technical and subject matter advisor for social science behavior research and present findings/recommendations obtained from research/analysis of data, assessments and responses. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Executes behavioral science analysis (e.g. instrument development, field data collections, database management data reduction and analysis, implementation of research findings) to evaluate effectiveness of behavioral and psychological health programs; 2) Assists with developing psychological and behavioral health research studies focusing on issues (i.e., stress, sleep issues, mental health, aggression, and suicidal behavior) to address mitigation of destructive behaviors; 3) Evaluates evidence-based health promotion interventions and behavioral change strategies to prevent the development of psychological and behavioral health problems; and 4) Identifies solutions to issues that impact a healthy culture and other prevention programs relevant to team behavior an organizational structures. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled OR Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
