Job Description:

The Payroll Specialist position is a temporary full-time employment opportunity on the Zovio People Team charged with delivering an exceptional employee experience at every moment that matters. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist will manage the payroll process for Zovio and its subsidiaries, creating a lasting impact on how Zovio attracts, engages, and retains top talent.

Essential Responsibilities:

Payroll

  • Follows all payroll processes per the payroll check off list ensuring accuracy and compliance each and every time.

  • Manage employee requests through HR/Payroll ticketing system and Outlook Payroll In-Box ensuring inquiries are responded to in a timely manner.

  • Researches and resolves the timekeeping timesheet discrepancies.

  • Reviews and reconciles new hires and rehire records to ensure accrual and taxation are accurate.

  • Process and peer review all terminations ensuring compliance with all state regulations.

  • Validate and peer review all EIB files and manual entries each payroll.

  • Coordinate with various departments on retro process to ensure accuracy each pay period.

  • Calculate and process special checks, and review, edit and make corrections and adjustments as needed.

  • Ensures that payroll records are updated and report on any matters of interest.

  • Solves problems concerning payroll, answers inquiries, and enforces payroll policies accurately and consistently throughout the organization.

  • Ensure Garnishment/Child Support Orders/Wage Assignments are properly processed and paid to appropriate agencies

  • Reviews scanned mail on a daily basis and resolves any outstanding issues with the appropriate party

  • Create missed deduction EIB for benefits and load into payroll on a bi-weekly basis

Required Experience:

  • Experience with Workday Administration

Preferred Experience:

  • 2-3 years' experience working in payroll with multistate.

  • Experience with multi-company payroll strongly preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of State and Federal regulations with regard to employee pay and benefits.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting and analyzing data.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work with highly sensitive information and maintain strict confidence.

  • Ability to multi-task, identify and set priorities, and to excel under demanding time constraints.

  • Possess strong problem analysis and problem resolution.

  • ADP Smart Compliance highly preferred

Education:

  • BA/BS degree required from a regionally or approved nationally accredited University. Or applicable work history.

  • All candidates must provide proof of official transcripts upon request.
