Reports to : Coordinated Campaign Manager

Salary : $7,000/month, $84,000/annually with a generous benefits package

Location : Madison or Milwaukee, WI ( Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin. )

Start date : Summer 2024

The Opportunity: As a Deputy Trips Director, you will help organize trips and surrogate operations in Wisconsin, supporting Democrats up and down the ballot. We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, dedicated, and possess exceptional organizational skills. This position requires in-person work and often in state travel.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Senior Coordinated Campaign team, coordinate with all campaign departments to make scheduling decisions, design and execute surrogate and principal events which create the biggest positive impact for the Democratic candidates.

  • Travel across Wisconsin to staff candidates, elected officials and VIPs at a variety of events, both internally created and external.

  • Provide support to traveling staff during event days, including troubleshooting, logistics, and other assistance to ensure smooth flow of trip.

  • Set up and staff events, including logistics and day-of needs, ahead of time.

  • Brief speakers, manage programs on-site, provide support to field organizers and volunteers for crowd flow, and generally be the “project manager” at events.

  • Assist in creating and updating trip memos and organizing internal documents.

  • Maintain trip calendars and track updates about trip logistics.

  • Manage fast-moving deadlines and complex projects with multiple stakeholders and contributors.

  • Coordinate travel or other logistics, including booking venues, vendors, catering, equipment rentals, contracts, paying invoices, and more.

  • Manage direct reports in all aspects of their work and support their success in the role by conducting relevant coaching conversations, providing and receiving feedback, and creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and reviewing time off requests

  • Hiring new team members

  • Having constructive conversations with team members on performance

  • Building rapport and trust within your team

  • Leading projects and delegating tasks

  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle incoming information from multiple sources while remaining incredibly organized. 

  • Experience balancing competing priorities and deadlines in addition to recognizing one’s own capacity and when to say no.

  • Ability to manage highly confidential information with discretion.

  • Access to reliable transportation and a valid US Driver's License and insurance required. 

    Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience working on a political campaign.

  • Experience in event planning.
