Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

About the Role

In your role as a team member under the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing both preventive and corrective maintenance on a range of underground mobile equipment. This encompasses Sandvik Drills, CAT 2900G & R2900XE loaders, Volvo Integrated Tool Carriers, CAT AD63, and Epiroc MT65 articulated haul trucks. Your expertise in troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance will be key to excelling in this role.

We have on offer a range of roles, allowing you to work either an 8:6 roster in our surface or underground workshop or a 2:2 roster with our PCR (Rebuild) team. FIFO options are available from Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane, or Perth.

In this role, you will

Conduct regular preventive and scheduled maintenance on equipment to meet the necessary standards is crucial for maximizing machine uptime and achieving goals. It is vital to complete all work swiftly and effectively to reduce equipment downtime. Accurate data entry must be performed using our designated service tools. It is also imperative to uphold high housekeeping standards in all work areas and enforce strict contamination control measures during all operations. By employing the provided tools, technologies, and best practices, aim to eliminate live work as a fundamental part of your daily activities.

You, the person

  • Cert III Trade Qualification or equivalent is required, along with maintenance and fault-finding skills.

  • Experience in underground or mining environments is highly regarded.

  • Candidates with underground breakdown experience will be considered favorably.

  • Previous experience with Sandvik Drills and Caterpillar machinery is advantageous.

  • Possession of a current Australian driver's license is essential.
