USC’s Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy invites applicants for a full-time, research track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Research. The Division’s scholarly and research programs are broadly defined to support two educational programs within the Division: Biokinesiology (PhD and MS) and Physical Therapy (DPT), and several credentialed physical therapy residency programs.

This position is primarily sponsored by Research Grants, in which Dr. Stacey Dusing is the Principal Investigator. This research focuses on providing data analysis support for a clinical trial of an intervention for young infants and a bring the program manager for a community engagement grant that will build capacity for early detection of cerebral palsy in the Los Angeles Department of Health Services. Applicants will be expected to have a background in behavioral coding, multi-linear modeling, community training and engagement. It is expected that the applicant may in the future participate in teaching/advisement in the Division’s educational programs.

Required Background:

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree and show evidence of research productivity as reflected by a minimum of three data-based publications in indexed, refereed journals.

  • At least one year of post-doctoral research experience is preferred, but it can be no more than five years. This experience can include a traditional fellowship or a research associate or faculty position with minimum teaching and service responsibility.

  • Applicants must be a US citizen, non-citizen national or permanent resident.

  • Applicants may not have been a principal investigator on any major NIH research project.

The annual base salary range for the Assistant Professor of Research position is $75,000-85,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
