V2X Ground Support Equipment Mechanic in Philippines

Overview

This position is physically located in the Philippines in support of LOGCAP

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic identifies problems with and repairs various types of equipment. This role primarily functions in the aviation maintenance field, working on gas and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic, electric and air brake systems including K-Loaders, tugs, ground power units, baggage carts, flight stairways, airfield sweepers. Also performs preventative maintenance and fault repairs on automotive and other heavy equipment when duties are assigned. GSE mechanic tests, inspects, and troubleshoots to keep all equipment working safely and productively. Must understand how to drive or operate the GSE equipment they work on as part of their job duties to be able to test it properly.

  • The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE), advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems, inspects and approves completed maintenance actions, solves repair problems, acquires wiring diagrams and maintenance actions, solves repair problems by wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications; uses diagnostic scan tool to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment fault repairs.

  • Maintains external fuel and grounding systems, performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation, services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, A/C refrigerant, and compressed air, diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.

  • This work also does the following: disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components, removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories.

  • Prepares GSE for preventative maintenance; and operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles.

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Must provide a copy of the diploma.

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License

  • Must have at least Three (3) years of experience working full-time on gasoline/diesel engines and specialty vehicles.

  • Must have at least Three (3) years of experience working on light/medium/heavy duty equipment and GSE vehicles.

  • Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.

  • Host Nation Heavy Driver’s License is required.

  • Must be able to operate vehicles with a manual transmission.

  • Preferred Qualification:

  • Undergraduate Degree is preferred.

  • Experience:

  • Three to Five (3 - 5) years of related work in the Ground Support Maintenance Field or equivalent.

  • Must be proficient in GSE troubleshooting, fault repair and maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Excellent computer, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills required.

  • Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Requires excellent organizational skills; with the ability to work under fast paced and adverse conditions.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures 35-45 degrees Celsius.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wind, rain).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.

  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.

  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals

  • The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
