Job Summary:

The Branch Sales Assistant Manager, under the direction and guidance of the Branch Manager, supervises, coordinates, coaches to develop Branch employees’ orientation towards the sales culture, achievement of goals and objectives, and delivery of service quality in accordance with established guidelines, policies, procedures and regulations. Assists and supports the Branch Manager’s efforts towards managing within an operationally sound and controlled environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Affects the productivity of the sales force by monitoring, coaching, and evaluating individual/team performance as it relates to the application of sales techniques/methods and the achievement of objectives.

  • Ensures the delivery of service levels that meet the established criteria and standards of the organization.

  • Supervises, evaluates and promotes the development of the sales team, as well as recommends salary increases, promotions and training.

  • Monitors to ensure that all branch human resources, systems and work programs are focused on maximizing the sales efforts, including the referral process.

  • Supervises the selling process, ensuring compliance by sales staff of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies and ensures that required documentation is appropriately captured, recorded, and retained.

  • Delivers upon the cross-selling program; enforces application and compliance with the sales strategies and the bank’s established referral program/concept (OSS).

  • Oversees compliance with established direct sales campaigns and other related sales strategies.

  • Coordinates and leads staff meetings with the purpose of keeping staff informed about results, new strategies, and goals.

  • Oversees compliance with all related policies and procedures, notifying Branch Manager and all other appropriate personnel of identified breaches and participating in the resolution or correction of noted violations.

  • Promotes the growth of the branch personal loans portfolio by motivating the sales force towards the achievement of branch goals, supervising the process, including the disbursement process and the delivery of acceptable service levels.

  • Assists with maximizing branch growth by participating and contributing to planning and development activities.

  • Assists Branch Manager with audit preparedness and investigations complies with all related laws and regulations, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Truth in Savings, Truth in Lending and Community Reinvestment Act.

  • Assists with the promotion and maintenance of business stability and retention of clients.

  • Encourages and supports the implementation and utilization of the Total Quality Program, ensuring compliance with the requirements and adherence to the quality standards defined.

  • Receives and routes commercial credit applications in the absence of or upon delegation by the Branch Manager, assisting so that established turn times and procedures are met.

  • Serves in the capacity of the Branch Manager during the absence of the Branch Manager, ensuring the continuation of day-to-day operations of the business.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for the Sales and Service Representatives. Serves in the absence

of the Branch Manager, ensuring maintenance of established standards and operational procedures.

In smaller retail branch banking facilities, supervisory responsibilities include that of the Service Representatives.

Competencies:

  • Supervisory skills, including but not limited to coaching, monitoring, evaluating performance, and motivational skills

  • Selling and Marketing techniques

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar

  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office and other computer systems specific to the financial services industry.

  • Knowledge of Banking laws and regulations and bank products and services

  • Capacity to analyze business information and data and present alternatives

  • Problem resolution skills

  • Leadership orientation and skills

  • Ability to work with and/or lead teams

  • Knowledge of banking products and services

  • Sales and service orientation, with extensive interpersonal and team building skills

  • Capacity to contribute to strategic planning activities, and/or implement and administer a work plan inclusive of retail and commercial strategies

  • Ability to work holidays, weekends, and flexible schedules to support the Retail Branch Banking environment.

Independence of Judgment:

The degree of judgment is limited to the identification, defining and the recommendation of solutions to problems of moderate-to-above moderate complexity. Final decisions regarding resolution of identified problems must be approved by staff senior to this position.

Impact of Errors:

Errors can impact the ability to remain in the position, as well as they can impact the accomplishment of the business objectives, the relationship with subordinate staff, the organization’s image and external clients. Errors can result in legal and financial consequences.

Interpersonal Communication:

This position requires significant degree of interpersonal communications with and between internal and external clients with diverse associations.

Education:

Associate’s Degree, preferable in Business Administration or Finance or related field of study.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a financial services environment. Minimum of 3 years experience in a sales role, preferably in a financial services environment.
