Do you have experience managing a centralized team providing 24x7x365 real time monitoring, incident response, communications management and reporting of data centre physical infrastructure?

The ideal manager will be responsible for a medium, geographically diverse team of highly qualified network engineers and operations monitoring engineers.

You will also be responsible for organizing our team to proactively monitor data centre facility availability and reliability meeting defined service level agreements. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of entry level and middle level operating engineers to solve for shift coverage, onboarding of new employee and training, and development of team procedures and processes. The manager will also act as an incident management escalation point for the data centre team.

This leader will be integral to our operations senior leadership team, collaborating with our engineering and operations teams on new solutions and designs. Key job responsibilities

This is a representative list of the general duties that may be required of the position and is not intended to be all-inclusive:

  • Manage all Engineers towards departmental and company wide goals

  • Hire, supervise and develop Engineers across all shifts to accommodate a 24x7x365 schedule.

  • Excellent and positive communications skills when working with customers, vendors and employees

  • Oversee day to day Operations centre, escalations, ticketing and communications with customers (internal & external)

  • Develop processes and procedures within the Operations centre to comply with unique customer based requirements where needed.

  • Update and maintain documentation associated with processes and procedures

  • Continuously improve and develop tools that will increase productivity and team performance.

This team supports 24/7 electrical/mechanical systems in a data centre environment, and periodic on-call duties with ability to drive into workplace for critical events/needs will be required.

We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. These future Amazonians will rotate through various AWS locations to complete training as part of their onboarding to prepare for deployment in a data centre region. This training will be completed over a duration of 6-12 months. Once training is completed, individuals will be relocated to the permanent location.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or other type of Engineering; or have 5+ years of relevant work experience

• 3+ years of managerial experience

• 5+ years’ experience working on or maintaining physical infrastructure equipment; strong understanding of control’s systems

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience working in a large-scale data centre

• 3+ years’ experience in a Network Operations Centre (NOC)

• 3+ years’ experience IT support

• The ideal candidate not only understands data centre IT Infrastructure, data centre facilities infrastructure, and how the two entities co-exist, but has proven ability to improve the relationship between the two groups.
