PeaceHealth Ultrasound Sonographer in Vancouver, Washington

PeaceHealth is seeking an Ultrasound Sonographer for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $45.20 – $67.33. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Uses independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in performing diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasound equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data. Responsible for initial assessments, summarizing diagnostic data, and communicating this information with diagnostic images to the interpreting physician.

DETAILS OF POSITION:

  • Performs most appropriate examination based on patient information through consultation with interpreting physician and/or ordering physician as necessary.

  • Records test results, prepares accurate preliminary reports with information appropriate to their scope of practice, and updates patient records for interpreting physician.

  • Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required. May schedule and coordinate tests and prepare and maintain operational logs.

  • Maintains and calibrates equipment and order necessary supplies.

  • Prepares, supplies, and equips exam rooms to meet the needs of requested examinations and to meet specific physician requirements for procedures.

  • Uses independent judgment during exam to differentiate, within the scope of their licensure, between normal and pathological findings.

  • Integrates previous imaging studies, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records to optimize exam.

  • Tailors' exam to individual patient and utilizes the most appropriate equipment settings to provide most diagnostic information for interpretation.

  • Performs other duties consistent with caregiver’s scope of practice, training, experience, and licensure/registration/certification.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Accredited School Required: Ultrasound Sonography. or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by the national registry through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Ultrasound Technology.

  • Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Diagnostic ultrasound experience in a hospital facility

  • Required: PACS/RIS knowledge

  • Preferred: ImageCast/CareCast experience

  • Required within 1 Year: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

  • Required: Current certification/registration/licensure as required by the State for trained modality

  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)

  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills required including MS Office applications. (Required)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment. (Required)

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.

  • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 30 lbs.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 13 lbs. force. Occasionally up to 30 lbs. force.

  • Reaching frequently.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
