The Hyatt Regency Vancouver is seeking a dedicated, creative and customer service oriented Part Time - Cook 4 (Cook's Helper) to join the Culinary team.

The Cook's Helper is a culinary position that requires basic culinary skills or related cooking experience and good communication skills. This is typically a production position that requires total supervision and training. The Cook’s Helper in our kitchen works to assist the culinary team in creating wonderful menu items for our guests. This position requires attention to detail and basic culinary knowledge.

The starting wage for this position is $20.51 per hour, after the first six months it will increase to $23.92 per hour, and after one year will be at the full rate of $27.34 per hour.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Must have BC Food Safe certificate

  • Must be available to work various shifts including weekends and holidays (early morning, afternoon and/ or evening shifts) as per business needs

  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks assigned in a timely manner with minimal supervision

  • Must be eager to train and work in various areas of the kitchen (outlets, staff cafeteria and banquet functions included)

  • Basic culinary skills and knowledge is a requirement

  • Culinary degree is an asset

  • Previous hotel or restaurant experience is an asset

  • Must have a true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment

  • Must have good communication skills and a good understanding of the English language

  • Must be capable of multi-tasking

  • Must be organized and clean

  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals

  • Must be an excellent team player

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift

  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs

  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling

  • Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps

  • Capable of performing repetitious duties
