Veterinary Assistant

Location: Ladysmith, BC

Fulltime: Maternity Leave Coverage

Ladysmith Animal Hospital is currently welcoming for a dependable, confident and caring Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This opportunity includes a range of responsibilities which directly attributes to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. Your primary responsibility is to assist our veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments.

• Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments

• Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patient and pet parents

• Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients

• General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas and common areas

• Willingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments

• Exceptional client service skills

• Ability to answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively

• Placing outbound calls to pet parents for follow-up and future appointment bookings

• Respond and manage email correspondence; clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages

• Admitting and discharging pet patients

• Invoicing/billing; creating estimates, obtaining pet owner confirmation and processing payments

• Scheduling appointments

• Compassion and nurturing attitude

• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

• Ability to adapt in changing situations

• Efficient in carrying out assignments independently

• Takes initiative to complete tasks throughout the day

Compensation: $17.40 to $25.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
