Sunkist Growers Specialist, Project in Valencia, California

Responsible for leading Sunkist packaging coordination process. Knowledge of packaging, printing, design, requirements and other related packaging operations and tasks. Responsible for holding packaging process commitments and deadlines. Collaborates with others in the Sunkist/FGS organization as well as outside vendors and customers to achieve packaging final delivery. Coordinates to achieve brand consistency and coordination of messaging in packaging design. Reporting to the marketing manager. Must be a strong communicator, organized, timeline driven, and customer driven.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • Responsible for being the single point of contact, information and communication for all things packaging with Sunkist sales and marketing, FGS, Sunkist packing houses and various vendors. Including artwork designs, approvals (internal/external), and coordination with packaging suppliers to ensure timely delivery of items consistent with brand standards.
  • Managing Sunkist branded packaging/cartons, Private Label packaging and export market packaging needs. Serving as the contact for the retail customers packing needs.
  • Manage Private Label customer platform data and spec information input including, but not limited to, specs and dielines of pack types, palletization information, Packinghouse and QA information, varietal and nutrition information, and chemical statements. Responsible for communicating and routing artwork edits and final approval between customer, FGS and printing house.
  • Process and manage New Package Request Forms including realistic timelines for Sunkist domestic and export programs - including final sign off from each department, quantity requirements and expected volumes. Communicate dates to ensure packaging forms and artwork are delivered in a timely manner
  • Coordination with Quality Assurance team, FGS and Packinghouses for packaging/carton testing. Including transferring data collection from test pack to Test Pack Data Form and distribute to personnel related to test pack
  • Coordinate with Sunkist Sales and Varietal Desk on season projections, expectations, and related. Communicating with FGS on current inventory and timeline ordering for start of the season, along with on-going season ordering and supplies.
  • Coordinate with Patent and Trademark and Government Affairs on Labeling Laws and Regulations for Export Countries of business, including chemical statements. Process artwork for Sunkist Legal review and approval.
  • UPC development (or creation), verification and providing UPC numbers to sales, varietal etc. Also update GTIN manual and SKU directory on an ongoing basis, including SKU management and reduction when applicable
  • Work with Government Affairs on packaging and sustainability initiatives
  • Process Global Supplier artwork submissions for to review and approve. Assisting with Global packaging needs.
  • Oversight of obsolete packaging inventory in coordination with FGS and Packinghouses
  • Manage in-office packaging sample inventory and obtain samples for tradeshows/events
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work units. Attends meetings as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience packaging production preferred. Marketing or project management experience recommended.
  • Must work in the office Monday - Friday. Special projects may call for occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
  • High School or GED required.
  • Ability to understand the packaging and carton business.
  • Ability to understand the brand business.
  • Possess exceptional project management, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to identify where and when there is room for interpretation, or flex within the brand guidelines.
  • Ability to see the big picture, balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Possess strong will ngness to handle complexity and ability to learn a broad variety of skills and job functions.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills, including ability to effectively communicate with others, internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameter of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Initiates and identifies opportunities to support team, relentless attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work with ambiguous and limited direction at times.
  • Possess experience and proficient with a variety of desktop tools: Word, Excel, Photoshop, PowerPoint, WordPress, and Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to perform the essential functions consistent safely and successfully with Sunkist standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to: talk, listen and speak effectively on telephone; read, write and understand written documents and policy.

Actual salary/hourly wages rates are determined upon a variety of factors such as level of experience, skill, education and/or certifications; location and position pay range; and organizational internal equity factors.
