Position Summary:
Performs venipuncture and skin puncture in the ambulatory setting.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS H.S. Diploma/GED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Essential Functions:
Ensure quality by verifying patient identification and specimen labeling.
Performs all tasks necessary to register patients and enter lab orders into the lab computer system.
Performs a variety of routine and complex blood drawing procedures including but not limited to venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and blood cultures.
Performs point-of-care testing, specimen processing and EKG's in the ambulatory settings.
Handles, processes, and prepares samples that have been collected in the department for testing or transportation to another testing facility.
Prepares provider office samples for transportation.
Collects and performs non-occupational drug screens.
