    Position Summary:

    Performs venipuncture and skin puncture in the ambulatory setting.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS H.S. Diploma/GED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    Essential Functions:

  • Ensure quality by verifying patient identification and specimen labeling.

  • Performs all tasks necessary to register patients and enter lab orders into the lab computer system.

  • Performs a variety of routine and complex blood drawing procedures including but not limited to venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and blood cultures.

  • Performs point-of-care testing, specimen processing and EKG's in the ambulatory settings.

  • Handles, processes, and prepares samples that have been collected in the department for testing or transportation to another testing facility.

  • Prepares provider office samples for transportation.

  • Collects and performs non-occupational drug screens.
