JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of the Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response (OSACR), the Adaptable Resolutions Specialist is responsible for the administration of adaptable resolution pathways and the conflict response program.

The Adaptable Resolutions Specialist will work closely with other OSACR staff, and campus and community partners, to offer conflict resolution options, provide related training, raise awareness, offer engagement opportunities, and resolve allegations of student misconduct utilizing restorative practices and informal resolutions. The Adaptable Resolutions Specialist is the primary case manager for adaptable resolutions at University Park.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews reports of conflict-based harms, including interpersonal and inter-group dynamics, managing a student accountability caseload to address allegations of misconduct through adaptable resolution options, including working closely with students and their support systems, and tracking all report and case-related information in the Maxient database system.

  • Serves as a central point of contact for all Penn State students, student organizations, departments, and programs seeking to use restorative practices to resolve conflict between students.

  • Facilitate and document resolution options including Restorative Practices, Mediation, Shuttle Negotiation, Facilitated Dialogue, and Conflict Coaching. The Adaptable Resolutions Specialist should come to the role with experience in at least one of these resolution pathways, and training will be provided to ensure that they are prepared to facilitate each of these pathways for our community.

  • Functional supervision of other adaptable resolution case managers and conflict response facilitators at University Park. The Adaptable Resolutions Specialist will also provide direction, support, and give feedback for staff across the Commonwealth.

  • Community outreach about the efficacy of reparation of harm as an alternative to traditional disciplinary measures, and providing faculty, staff, and students with effective tools to resolve conflict and strengthen their communities.

  • Building and sustaining a dedicated group of faculty, staff, and students to provide conflict resolution services across the Commonwealth.

  • The Adaptable Resolutions Specialist will lead the development and implementation of a formalized adaptable resolution process for acts of bias, sexual harassment, and other forms of discriminatory misconduct.

    Education and Experience:

This position will be filled as a Student Conduct Officer Advanced Professional or Senior Professional level depending on the final applicant’s experience and education. The Student Conduct Officer Advanced Professional requires a minimum of a master's and 3 year(s) of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $89,600.00
