Business and Criminal Justice

Instructor – Business HV-FAC-8776

Full Time Probationary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Business Administration (or other relevant graduate-level business degree) or Master’s in Mathematics or Statistics from an accredited college or university. Must have daytime availability to teach on-campus sections and previous experience and/or a desire to engage in distance learning initiatives.

Classes will be on the HVCC Troy, NY campus. Instructor will teach Statistics and Quantitive Business Applications.

Preferred Qualifications: Post-secondary teaching experience preferred. Experience with online delivery systems (D2L Brightspace) highly desirable.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide classroom instruction in the Business Department.

• Teach Business Statistics - discuss general statistical methods used in the collection, presentation, analysis, and interpretation of statistical data. This includes measures of central tendency; dispersion and skewness; probability theory; probability distributions (discrete and continuous); hypothesis testing, including "t" and "z" distributions; chi square analysis; and regression analysis, correlation and ANOVA.

• Teach Quantitative Business Applications - course includes algebra-based calculations and analysis of business investment situations, including simple and compound interest, annuities (ordinary due, deferred, complex, perpetuity, and forborne), applications of present value and future value, and a conceptual discussion of business investments.

• Evaluate student performance.

• Participation on departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged.

• At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the faculty contract.

The Salary for this academic year position is $48,981.00.
