Job Summary

MUFG Bank Ltd., Canada Branch is seeking a candidate for Specialist level position in Money Transfer and Deposits Department. The role of a Specialist is to be responsible for processing remittance and Deposits related transactions, primarily large value payments processed through SWIFT and maintenance of customers deposit accounts.

Key Accountabilities

Operations and Control:

  • Process incoming and outgoing wire payments using Bank's SWIFT application systems and in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures.

  • Monitor daily wireroom activities, flag SWIFT messages requiring action and notify the department manager.

  • Create funding memo for domestic and foreign currency remittances to inform Treasury on the flows.

  • Perform End of Day transaction proof, checks and reconciliation of transactions processed in the unit.

  • Prepare daily and monthly statistical reports for the department.

  • Process Incoming and Outgoing Clearing cheques/ AFT items in accordance with Payment Canada rules and Bank's policies and procedures.

  • Open, close and maintain Customers' Deposit accounts.

Client Experience:

  • Notify Front Office and customers about the receipt of incoming remittances

  • Perform Customer call back to confirm details of Remittance Applications and other instructions related to the deposit accounts.

  • Communicate with internal departments and with customers for resolving issues.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Perform Compliance and Risk assessment to ensure strict adherence to Bank’s AML and Risk guidelines.

  • Prepare MT199 message for transactions received from other Banks with incorrect details or AML Data Quality issues as per Bank's guidelines.

  • Review and repair messages processed in Bank’s FINTRAC reporting system.

  • Escalate to Manager when transaction with sanction risk or AML risk is identified.

  • Prepares daily compliance related reports.

Project Related:

  • Perform UAT on new systems or enhancements implemented by the unit.

Other position elements:

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft’s Access,Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • An ability to work well with others and understand customers’ needs.

  • An ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • A quick learner and attention to details

Experience & Abilities:

  • The ideal candidate should have minimum 1 year's experience in Accounting or Banking and Finance.

  • Strong Leadership and analytical skills

  • A strong communications skill, pleasant telephone manners, is able to speak to all levels within the organization and to a diverse group of stakeholders.

Education & Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business.

Working Conditions:

No travel is required except commute to Toronto Office.
