In order to meet these growth challenges, WSP is currently looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical team department for our Hydro & Dams market sector, located at any of our offices in Canada . This position is within the market sector Hydropower & Dams of the Power Division. This market sector specializes in hydroelectric projects (development, rehabilitation), dam and hydraulic structures engineering, and dam safety. We work in collaboration with public and private sector clients on innovative projects that allow our team members to prove their expertise and to train a new generation of passionate people.

What you can expect to do here:

• You will lead electrical discipline on major hydroelectric construction or rehabilitation projects and ensure that the design meets the guidelines, requirements of codes, regulations and other reference documents.

• You will lead, manage and train the Hydro & Dams electrical engineers and lead initiatives to ensure continued employee engagement.

• You will be responsible to develop and grow the Hydro & Dams electrical team in Atlantic, Ontario and Western Canada to achieve expected results of the business strategy.

• You will maintain a high degree of personal involvement with major clients & coordinate business development efforts by meeting with clients to proactively understand evolving client needs, local and industry trends, and upcoming project opportunities.

• You will conduct quality assurance review of drawings, specifications, studies, reports and other technical documents for low, medium, and high voltage electrical distribution, AC/DC distribution systems, transformers, generators, control and other auxiliary systems for dams and hydroelectric projects.

• You will liaise closely with established technical teams to coordinate engineering work.

• You will supervise engineering resources, including technicians and other engineers.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

• You will have a minimum Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

• You will be be a Professional Engineer member of a professional association in a province in Canada.

• You will have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in engineering consulting, delivering technical and complex projects.

• You will have a sense of initiative, proactivity, resourcefulness, autonomy and attention to detail.

• You will have demonstrated ability to address challenging situations in the market.

• You will be highly professional with strong written and oral communication skills.

• You will have a track record of promoting a strong corporate culture which encourages teamwork, problem solving and high performance.

• You will offer Bilingualism in English and French as an asset.
