Impact Kitchen Culinary Nutritionist in Toronto, Ontario

In addition to our 5 restaurants located within Toronto’s core, Impact Kitchen fuels many of the city's major sports teams and top athletes through our catering and culinary programs and partnerships. 

CULINARY NUTRITIONIST

The Culinary Nutritionist supports all aspects of successful, nutritionally dense menu development and execution while providing broad support to the Impact Kitchen team. Reporting to the Director of Culinary & Innovation, this is an incredibly important role and one where culinary creativity and nutritional expertise are a must. This is a new role for Impact Kitchen and one with high visibility across the organization. An Ideal candidate will leverage their expertise inside culinary operations and beyond as they work with marketing and team development. WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The Culinary Nutritionist will support the creation of compelling and delicious menu items out of our commissary kitchen located in Toronto’s Corktown neighbourhood. The role will primarily work a Monday to Friday fixed schedule but this may flex based on business needs, new menu roll-outs or special projects. In addition to the core creative and development responsibilities, the Culinary Nutritionist will also spend key strategic time in our restaurants transferring their expert knowledge to our kitchen teams and ensuring the broad Impact Kitchen ecosystem is set up for success. 

 

Ability to travel to our restaurants and throughout Toronto’s core is a must for success at Impact Kitchen. 

 

Within the first 30 days you will; 

Receive training and become knowledgeable of Impact Kitchen operations and current culinary development processes. 

Within the first 60 days you will; 

Effectively complete your training and start to create dishes while gaining a deeper understanding of supply chains, SOPs, opportunities and constraints within the culinary department.

Within the first 90 days you will; 

Begin t o develop new menu offerings for future seasons along with support from the Director of Culinary & Innovation. Work in locations supporting training initiatives. Liaise with Marketing to help continue our Nutrient Dense and Athlete focused food message.

COMPENSATION 

The Culinary Nutritionist is entitled to an annual salary aligned with experience, 3 weeks of vacation, benefits and a meal allowance to keep you fueled up while you work. 

TEAM & DEPARTMENT

Reporting to the Director of Culinary & Innovation, the Culinary Nutritionist will be an integral part of our Impact Kitchen team and support busin ess development through incredible food. They will also support the broader organization ensuring our teams are well versed on nutritional information and our customers understand how our food philosophy separates us from the pack. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

Product Development 

  • Create nutritious, compelling, and delicious menu options for our restaurant teams to execute.

  • Research nutritional trends and seasonal ingredients to propose, develop & test seasonal menu concepts aligned to the menu development calendar. 

  • Plan, scope, schedule and cost dishes, ingredients and supplies. 

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop the formal process and strategies for bringing proposed menu concepts to final tasting.

  • Support go-to-market strateg y for menu roll-outs including post roll-out analysis and iterations. 

    Training Development

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to develop robust training plans for culinary teams across the organization. 

  • Coach and train both head office and restaurant teams to achieve culinary excellence in execution and efficiency. 

    Marketing

  • Work closely with the Marketing department to communicate our food philosophy.

  • Educate guests & event attendees with the nutritional benefits of Impact Kitchen featured items.

  • Support content development for our newsletter, blog and social channels. 

    SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of nutrition and building a menu to deliver nutritional value.

  • Applied experience in product development with a nutritional focus.

  • Ability to collaborate and work in a best in class team environment.

  • Experience in a health / wellness based business is considered an asset.

  • Certificate as a Nutritionist / Dietitian is preferred.
