The Reinsurance Business Analyst is responsible for supporting Operations through the identification and implementation of processes and technical solutions. The incumbent will use their analytical and coding skills to perform data analysis and ensure data quality through various analytical tools and reports. By closely liaising with the Operations team, they perform process analysis, articulate solution requirements, and ensure final solutions are implemented successfully.

Core Accountabilities

  • Provide technical support to the Operations team by identifying and implementing automated process improvements.

  • Build and maintain various queries and tables through SQL, VBA and/or Python.

  • Drive process-orientated discussions to investigate business/systems issues and inefficiencies.

  • Develop and perform analysis queries to identify business anomalies and potential errors.

  • Communicate analysis and results to various stakeholders and management.

  • Support the running of monthly and quarterly Operations cycles by reviewing and processing cycle exceptions and reporting, with accountability for process review and oversight.

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Develop an understanding of business processes as they relate to Operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to be clear and concise.

  • Methodical with strong process analysis skills.

  • Curious mindset – asks probing questions, challenges the status-quo and identifies areas for automation.

  • Ability to understand business questions and issues, thinks strategically, and synthesizes information quickly.

  • Ability to independently manage deadlines while multitasking between different projects.

Experience, Education and Designations

  • Advanced level knowledge in Excel and/or Access

  • Strong experience with SQL, VBA, Python, or R

  • Reinsurance knowledge is an asset

  • Post-secondary undergraduate degree, preferably in a business, mathematics, statistics, or computer science program

  • Two years’ experience in business process analysis
