Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse Location: Toledo, OH 43604 Shift timings: 07:00 AM -- 03:00 PM (Mon to Fri with every other weekend) Duration: 04 Months with further extension Job Description: Responsible for passing medication in booking/ treatment. Administers medication according to the written procedures and protocols for the handling of pharmaceuticals. Charts medication on the appropriate medications administration report (mar) following established protocol. Files mar's of d/'c'd medication and/or released inmates in the appropriate record or file. Update inmate's personal medication. Keep medication boxes neat and in order. Places medication labels on re-order forms as needed. Notifies the special projects nurse or nursing director when special medication needs to be re-ordered. Signs stock medication book when utilizing the stock medication and using the proper procedure. Performs daily calls to pharmacies, hospitals, agencies etc. From the call board this includes new arrestees' Follows all procedures on the control, storage and administration of medication including inmates' own medication. Monitors and documents rounds of inmates on wmp's and restraints in booking. Completes and perform the daily treatment list for assessment of inmates with medical complaints, schedule treatments and other medical conditions. Assist counselors with the mentally impaired inmates for referral to the psychiatrist for treatment and/or referral to the psychiatric hospital. Treats lcso staff for job-related first aid and/or emergency care. Evaluates new arrestee's health status and assess whether or not arrestee is medically fit for admission into the center. Conducts booking rounds twice each shift and evaluates the receiving screening forms and assess inmates as needed. Gives direction to medical clerk for necessary follow through. Responsible for keeping an orderly and sanitary environment and work area. Gives a comprehensive report to the oncoming shift. Read and initial all nursing director notices on the "notices" clipboard. Responsible for all medical emergencies concerning inmates for both nursing treatment and disposition in booking. Writes neatly and legible so that notes can be read and deciphered. Performs s.o.a.p. charting on all indicated cases. Charts all necessary and pertinent information from daily treatments, evaluations and nursing assessments. Performs filing duties where indicated. In general, files all papers, forms, etc. Utilize during the assigned shift. Provides consultation to the correctional treatment facility and the work release program upon their request. Responsible for answering the telephone and retrieving messages from voicemail at all times during the assigned shift. Required Qualifications: Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Ohio. For lpns: current medication certification from an approved credentialing agency. Currently certified in a recognized course of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Required Experience: Recent minimum of three years' experience in general duty nursing. A minimum of three years correctional nursing experience is highly desired. Respected member of the nursing community. Personal qualifications: Possess knowledge and skill in techniques at good patient care. Maintain optimum nursing practice through planned and continuous professional growth. Able to plan and organize work and to work independently. Possess visual and aural acuity to detect changes in patient's condition. Manifest understanding, patience and tact in human relations. Job Relationship: Ooes not supervise any other employee.
