Purpose/Introduction
The Finance Department aims to be a trusted partner that adds value by protecting the company’s financial integrity, guiding sound business decisions and offering enriching careers in a collaborative workplace. Finance oversees financial planning and fiscal management for Chevron Phillips Chemical including accounting, financing activities, planning, and tax compliance. The department provides financial information, policy analyses and recommendations that drive sound decision-making.
The Commercial Financial Analyst Supervisor is responsible for managing finance related activities for the Commercial SBUs. This position supervises the product line financial analysts and provides financial analysis support to their assigned SBU. The position reports to the Commercial Finance Manager.
Responsibilities
This position is the primary Finance Business Partner for the Commercial organization
Responsible for assigned SBU financial reporting, monthly close, financial analysis, decision support, internal controls testing, budget and forecasting duties, and presentations
Provide support to the SBU Planning Managers to respond to requests from the Leadership Team, Board Members, CP&D, FP&A Corporate and other requests
The position interfaces with assigned Commercial SBU, FP&A Corporate, Controllers, Treasury, Tax, CP&D, Plant Accounting, Supply Chain, and other groups
Serve as the financial lead to work with commercial managers, logistics group, plant accounting and financial management to resolve issues related to accounting and business processes
Assist with development of annual strategic plan updates and periodic business reviews with senior management
Supervision and development of product line financial analysts who support product lines within the assigned SBU
Responsibilities (continued)
Responsible for oversight on impairment reviews within the businesses
Perform and oversee ad-hoc business analysis to support development of periodic presentations to senior management or for decision support
Oversee the monthly cost and profitability analysis including reconciling sales, inventories, plant costs and overhead costs
Contribute to or lead reporting on key performance metrics and monthly performance summary reports
Oversee and update as needed the groups internal control processes and management testing
Prepares analytical reports to track overhead costs and profitability on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis to support business decision
Assist in providing commentary to product line financial statements to FP&A Corporate and business managers
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, or related field
10 years of experience with 5+ years of Chemicals, Energy or Oil & Gas experience required
A minimum of 1 year prior supervisory experience
Strong understanding of all financial statements and how they flow together
Proficient with Microsoft Office systems – Excel, Power Point, and Word
SAP and/or Planful experience
Strong business analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with employees at all organizational levels
Self-starter, be an active participant on teams, and proactively meet with business to meet their needs
Potential to promote beyond current position
Preferred Qualifications
● CPA/Masters level education
● Prior financial analyst or plant cost analyst experience
