U-Haul Custodian in Tempe, Arizona

Under the direction of a designated supervisor, perform cleaning and minor maintenance service duties to maintain clean and sanitary conditions at the storage facility. Note: Essential duties are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
Job Knowledge:
Position requires some previous cleaning service or building maintenance experience or the ability to learn to perform the following:
Reasonable and predictable attendance is essential.
Sweep, vacuum, and mop storage rooms, hallways and stairwells.
Empty waste cans and remove trash to outside designated trash bins. Ensure any hazardous waste is properly disposed of as instructed.
Wash down storage room and hallway walls / doors inside and out.
Make sure buildings are secure, outer gates locked and security lights are turned on at night. Turn off unnecessary lights.
Clean, sanitize, and stock public restrooms.
Clean elevator floors, walls, door, and door tracks.
Maintain pest control in all storage rooms.
Wipe down all signage, fire extinguishers, thermostats, dehumidifiers etc.
Remove cobwebs throughout storage facility.
Keep cleaning supplies inventory records and request or reorder supplies when necessary.
Tools/Skills/Mental Requirements:
Must be able to perform duties with little supervision.
Physical Requirement:
Carrying, crouching, depth perception, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting (min. 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted), reaching, seeing, sitting, standing.
Work Environment:
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.
Other:
Position requires the ability to maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and comply with all safety rules and procedures. It is mandatory that all accidents and injuries be reported immediately to supervisor. Grow and develop personally and professionally by enrolling in U-Haul University, e-Learning courses. Build skills and increase job knowledge to achieve both short and long-term career goals Must maintain just-in-time production methods, along with total quality control at the source of the work being performed.
