Fairleigh Dickinson University Adjunct Professor Reading Specialist Program, S.O.E.--FALL 2024 in Teaneck, New Jersey

Job Summary:

Location(s): Remote

All adjunct positions require a Master’s degree in a related field and teaching experience unless otherwise indicated; candidates with an ABD , Ed.D., or Ph.D. are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.

Seeking faculty for:

Reading Specialist Program (all classes taught remotely):

· EDUC 6491 – Culturally Responsive Children’s Literature

· EDUC 6609 – Supervised Practicum in Reading

· EDUC 6763 – Theoretical Foundations of Literacy

· EDUC 6766 – Literacy, Language, and Culture

Required Qualifications:

  1. An earned Master’s in Education

  2. Teaching experience in culturally and linguistically diverse and inclusive P-12 schools

  3. Commitment to working with diverse students in early childhood, elementary, middle, or high school settings

  4. experience teaching online synchronous classes at the graduate level

  5. deep knowledge of language and literacy acquisition, including the challenges and obstacles that certain children may encounter to develop proficient literacy and language abilities.

  6. knowledge, understanding, and experience teaching structured literacy methods

  7. knowledge of and experience with literacy assessments to prevent and remediate literacy difficulties

  8. knowledge of leadership theory and action research

  9. ability to mentor and support reading specialist candidates, including supervising candidates’ instruction of struggling readers

  10. experience as a literacy coach (optional)

  11. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
