Available Shifts: 2nd/3rd

2nd Shift: 3:00PM-1:00AM

3rd Shift: 10:00PM-6:00AM

Monday - Friday scheduled (some Saturday's required) - Overtime available!

Job Description

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. You will follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions. Additionally, you will locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, using precision measuring and testing instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Complete preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation to locate sources of problems.

  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.

  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.

  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, and placing and expediting orders.

  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.

  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Observe product quality to determine problems.

  • Maintain safety guards.

  • Fabricate hydraulic lines.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent troubleshooting and installation skills.

  • Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic conveyor systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Basic math and computer skills.

  • Ability to speak and write in English.

  • Skilled in repairing mechanical equipment and machinery.

  • Proper use of all hand and power tools (including multimeters, micrometers, and calipers).

  • Understanding of electrical and pneumatic switches.

  • Understanding of PLC and CPU.

  • Three phase wiring knowledge.

  • Ability to identify all bearings and their placement.

  • Ability to perform machine rebuilds with little to no supervision.

  • Ability to install/align closed gear drives.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, and plumbing.

  • Professionalism to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to adjust machine eccentrics to parallel rolls.

  • Ability to Ohm out, test wiring insulation, and meg motors.

  • Neat and clean workstation.

  • Perform proper Lock Out.

  • Ability to work Monday - Friday with the possibility of weekend work based on business needs.

  • A post high school diploma.

  • Two (2) years of industrial maintenance work in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

You will work in a manufacturing and production plant in a non-temperature controlled environment. The job requires standing and walking up to 2/3 of the time, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or touch, talking, or hearing more than 2/3 of the time, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts and frequently to hot and/or humid as well as cold conditions.
