Your Specific Responsibilities

This remote independent professional position requires technical knowledge of the Department of Health’s Food Safety and Sanitation Program (FSSP). The position requires knowledge and interpretation of relevant Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Codes, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code. The incumbent will lead a team to develop a training program and provide food safety and sanitation training to Department of Health staff throughout the state of Florida.

Work duties include:

  • Assesses training needs, establishes priorities, identifies resources, and develops training plans.

  • Develops, coordinates, evaluates, and conducts training programs and activities.

  • Provides technical assistance in preparing, developing, implementing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating training programs and activities.

  • Conducts formal classroom instruction, seminars, and workshops and provides on-site training to field personnel with duties in the FSSP program.

  • Coordinates training and staff development programs and activities.

  • Confers with management and staff in determining training and staff development requirements, needs, priorities, objectives, and resources.

  • Establishes, monitors, and enforces training standards.

  • Reviews, evaluates and coordinates the development of program syllabi, curricula, and lesson plans.

  • Prepares, reviews, and approves training manuals.

  • Coordinates program and classroom schedules.

  • Participates in staff conferences and curricula development to develop and improve training programs.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.

  • Reviews teaching strategies, techniques, and procedures.

  • Prepares training records, reports, and correspondence.

  • Obtaining the certified environmental health professional credential in food safety.

  • Performs inspections for standardization purposes.

  • Performs related work as required.

  • Travels up to 50% of the individual’s time worked.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Qualifications:

  • 2 years of training experience, including conducting training and development of training programs or training plans.

  • 1 - 2 years regulatory experience

  • 2 years supervisory experience
