This advertisement is for a SES position located in Tallahassee, Florida in the Office of Programs & Re-Entry.

Salary Range: $103,711.40 - $109,447.00 annually

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and supervises employees, monitoring daily activities. Plans workloads, workflows, deadlines, and time utilization. Evaluates employee performance and develops performance improvements plans as necessary. Collects and prepares recommendations for disciplinary action against employees believed to have violated departmental rules, policies, or procedures. Ensures staff compliance with mandatory training requirements. Reviews and approves requests for leave ensuring adequate office and workload coverage. Reviews and approves travel vouchers. Interviews for employment and makes recommendations for hiring.

  • Responsible for correctional education programming to include academic and career and technical education, special education, community transition, and other core re-entry programming. This position will provide direction, management, policy and procedural review, development, and implementation for the program areas. It will direct promotional activities regarding initiatives and program implementation.

  • Supervises and coordinates the development, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of all correctional education programs including academic education, special education, Title 1, career and technical education, library services, community transition, and related grant programs.

  • Supervises and coordinates the development, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of the statutorily mandated Compass 180 program and other domain programming for the incarcerated population.

  • Manages program and quality assurance staff that conduct program reviews and site visits on a regular basis facility that have programming pertaining to correctional education, Compass 180 and other domain programing for the incarcerated population.

  • Supervises the establishment of business partnerships with various applied career and technical education programs, and coordinates business partnerships to aid in job placement.

  • Supervises the development of plans for program modification of correctional education, Compass 180 and other assigned domain programming, assesses available resources, and ensure resources are allocated within institutions to meet programming needs for the incarcerated population.

  • Represents the Department at meetings program matters that are the responsibility of this Bureau.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years in programmatic administration.

  • Direct work experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in teaching.

  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising staff.

    PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in education or the social sciences and FLDOE certification in Educational Leadership are preferred.
