Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

• 2 years of experience with software development in Java and Kotlin as a programming language and databases, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.

• Experience developing accessible technologies with enterprise scale software development.

• Experience with web applications, streaming, and front-end languages (e.g., Angular, Dart).

As a Software Engineer, you will help make a positive impact on people's lives all around the world by the removal of illegal and harmful content from our platforms. We own the full scope of our tools from the front-end to the database.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

• Establish and follow software development best practices and a robust engineering culture.

• Participate in the definition, design, and development of the next generation of Removals software system.

• Participate in engaging with the Legal team to better understand the business function, and suggest opportunities for automation using machine learning and other techniques.

• Work closely with our UX team to ensure content moderation products reflect product excellence and are accessible.
