SUNY Upstate Medical University Medical Office Assistant in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
As part of the CG-Urology Clinic Team at Upstate Community Hospital, the MOA will work under the direction of the RN or Licensed provider and will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team approach to deliver quality care performing clinical, laboratory and clerical support activities.
Position Duties Include but not limited to:
Prepare exam rooms for patients before, during, and after examinations or procedures.
Taking vital signs, such as heights, weight, and blood pressure, review medication lists.
Prep charts for upcoming appointments to be sure all necessary labs are in the record, and retrieve if necessary. In addition, maintain sufficient patient flow by coordinating and monitoring patient schedules.
May assist in obtaining authorizations for procedures, assist with the registration process, initiate, prepare and maintain medical records, schedule future tests/appointments.
Must be able to complete multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner, demonstrate proper phone technique and etiquette as well as maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Responsible to order supplies, provide other clerical and clinical support as needed.
Must be willing to float to other offices as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an approved Medical Office Assistant program, OR have at least one year of directly related Medical assistant experience .
Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience with electronic medical records.
CPR Certification required at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Urology patients.
Experience working with Epic a plus.
Work Days:
Monday- Friday, Days 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
