LeMoyne College Campus Minister, Service &Social Justice in Syracuse, New York

The Office of Campus Ministry provides opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to grow spiritually, to engage in local, domestic, and international service and social justice opportunities, to make spiritual retreats, reflect on contemporary social issues and to actively practice their faith. Campus Ministry welcomes and serves persons of all religious affiliations and faith traditions.

Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Ministry and in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Staff, the Campus Minister for Service and Social Justice promotes and facilitates the integration of "the faith that does justice" by creating various developmental formation experiences around social justice education, advocacy, social analysis, and theological reflection which draw students into spiritual growth and action.

The experiences include, but are not limited to local service, domestic and international service trips with students, faculty, and staff, as well as campus ministry sponsored engagement with local organizations engaged in the work of alleviating poverty or other social justice issues. Serves as the primary coordinator of the Campus Cupboard and 'Phins Share Meals program on campus to meet the needs to students facing food insecurity. The Campus Minister also serves as a college-wide resource regarding social justice initiatives for students, faculty, and staff at Le Moyne College.

Job duties specific to this position:

Create and maintain assessment measures for all student formation programs. Collaborate with other campus constituencies to raise campus consciousness on current events as they pertain to issues of justice, equality, and peace. Develop and coordinate regular local service opportunities for students. Coordinate the regular operation of the Campus Cupboard and 'Phins Share Meals Program.

Assist with retreats. Serve as a Campus Ministry presence at Sunday Mass and attend all special liturgies of the college. Attending and being visible at various religious services on campus, including but not limited to weekly Jumu'ah prayer and Protestant worship. Attending and being visible at various campus events, including but not limited to sporting, musical, lectures, and other social events.
Contribute to Mission Integration divisional meetings, webinars, and committees. Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's Degree required in Pastoral Studies, theology or a related field. An understanding of the principles of Ignatian spirituality, the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, the mission of Jesuit education, and Catholic Social Teaching Desire to work with a diverse faith community of undergraduate college students. High level of initiative and imagination. Ability to maintain confidentiality, be self-directed and motivated, possess a high energy level and positive attitude. Knowledge of computers, emphasis on Microsoft Office, Excel, Gmail and various social media platforms. Strong organization and administrative skills.
