PeaceHealth is seeking a Staffing Specialist - Nursing Support for a Part Time, 0.88 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $20.65 – $30.97. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet patient needs in Nursing Units, adjusting staffing based on census and patient acuity. Also responsible for coordinating and communication staffing decisions with appropriate nursing management/leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with unit managers to ensure consistent and balance staffing or schedules on a 24-hour basis.

  • Maintain staffing/scheduling records. Accurately document all changes to schedule in staffing and scheduling system.

  • Interpret and accurately apply and follow all hospital policies and bargaining unit agreements.

  • Communicate effectively with staff and managers.

  • May prepare, input and maintain monthly schedules for assigned units.

  • May approve time off/education requests when doing scheduling.

  • Provide meaningful and complete reports as requested.

  • May function as a resource to nursing managers for efficient use of scheduling system.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent

Experience

  • Preferred: Scheduling/staffing experience

Credentials

Skills

  • Working knowledge of staffing/scheduling office systems and customer service (Required)

  • Skills in problem solving and organizing and disseminating information (Required)

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (Required)

  • Proficient computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)

  • Ability to multi-task and work in an environment with multiple interruptions and successful follow through (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Sedentary work.

Environmental Conditions

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.

Mental/Visual

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
