Walmart Senior, Software Engineer in Sunnyvale, California

What you'll do...

About The Team:

As a member of the OMS team, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing code change required for special business requirements. The role entail understanding the impact of many payment tenders on the order fulfillment journey. You'll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. You'll be able to say that you work for the world's largest retailer and contribute to the development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.

As a Senior, Software Engineer , you will technically help and assist the team to steer through correct technical directions following the best practices on multiple initiatives, starting with the launch of many Payment Tender onboarding and integrations. You will have a deeper understanding of Software Development approaches along with hands-on experience in building highly scalable solutions and execution of business initiatives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Help develop of Walmart's Invoicing platform back-end at a large scale with guaranteed availability targeting mass market usability.

  • Build n-tier applications using RESTful Web Services, Java, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Oracle, NoSQL (Azure Cosmos), Kafka, and Testing framework.

  • Build back-end services using technologies such as Java and Tomcat and data stores to enable user interaction with large volume datasets.

  • Involved in technical database design including relational database like Azure SQL and non-relational database like Cassandra/Cosmos.

  • Develop robust, maintainable, reusable code and software tools for managing configuration, deployment, monitoring, performance, scalability, availability, security, and alerting for test, integration, and production environments.

  • Work with cross functional product and engineering stakeholders to design and implement scalable, performant, extensible solutions with customer needs in mind.

  • Participate and involved into architecture discussions to develop system design and architecture for new products or improvements to existing ones.

  • Ensure all the deliverables meets the defined business requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability, and high-scalability needs.

  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in software engineering or related field

  • Experience in architecture, tools, and deployments in the hyper-scalers like GCP/Azure/AWS

  • Experience with messaging systems like Kafka and IBM MQ.

  • Sound business judgment as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize.

  • Must be able and willing to think and act strategically and tactically.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
