Actalent Design Engineer in Sturgis, Michigan

Job Title: Design Engineer

Job Description

This design engineer will work in the Aftermarket/Service parts division. They will design aftermarket parts for service and aftermarket orders. For example, if there is a large order and new doors or fixtures are needed, this person will be responsible for designing those. They will spend 80-90% of their time at the desk designing and completing analyses, with 10% of their time on the floor. They will complete DFMEA and FEA analysis. The design engineer will follow these aftermarket projects from start to finish, requiring project management experience.

Hard Skills

  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing environment

  • SolidWorks experience

  • Project management or 8D/A3 problem solving skills

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Sturgis, Michigan.

Work Environment

The team size includes 4 other design engineers, but this engineer will be the only one in the aftermarket division. The team also includes 4 vehicle engineers and a couple of sales coworkers. Work hours are flexible: 8-5, 7-4, or 7:30-4:30, with a 40-hour work week. They can work through their hour lunch if they prefer. Overtime is not required, but the work must be completed within the 40 hours.
