What is a Lead Production Technician?

The Lead Production Technician will act as the point person under the Supervisor to coordinate workflow, efficiency and safety of the production cell. Perform routine activities involved in the storing, stocking and handling of materials and may include painting or deburring as well as performing a variety of mechanical or electrical assembly and test operations on the assigned product lines. This is a first shift position with hours from 7am-3:30pm.

 

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have at least three years related experience in a manufacturing/production environment and be able to take ownership of work centers. Must be computer literate in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office. Must be organized, a team player and committed to quality systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the designated team, ensuring individual and group productivity.

Provide leadership to assigned cell with respect to quality, cost, production and compliance.

Monitor team's production flow, while making sure output meets deadlines and within quality and safety parameters.

Assist with coordinating workflow between departments.

Participate in cell activities to meet identified goals.

Assist cell members in solving problems and improving performance.

Identify and reports personnel issues to shift supervisor.

Train new employees and coach existing employees.

Ensure that company methods and policies are followed.

Work hand-in-hand with Supervisor to:    

Communicate relevant and timely information and expectations.    

Enables effective communications between the team and the supervisor.    

Interview and assess new-hire candidates.    

Document training.     

Create/review/update work instructions, job descriptions and TPTPs as needed, but no less than annually.      

Review and input wording for 30- and 90-day and annual performance reviews, corrective action notices, etc.    

Interface with other functions such as quality control, engineering and production planners, etc.

Effectively assemble and test the variety of products for qualified area.

Inspect, test and/or evaluate all parts manufactured in the specific assembly area and to perform quality related analysis.

Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of materials and inventory.

Ensure that products and systems are shipped with appropriate packing, documentation and delivery requirements.

Perform routine preventative maintenance as required to maintain equipment in top operational order.

Visually inspect product to insure it has not been damaged or deteriorated during handling, storage, packaging or shipping.

May track inventory or prepare other documentation on a computer.

Effectively perform material handling activities such as crating, packing, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, moving and using materials handling equipment when necessary. (such as: lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, high lifts, etc.)

Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
