DCS Corporation Vehicle Platform Systems Engineer in Sterling Heights, Michigan

This is an opportunity to provide direct support to the Department of Defense in the development of tactical ground vehicle systems.  As a DCS Corp employee, you will work alongside the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) and Program Management Office personnel to provide engineering and project management support to DoD projects. Essential Job Functions: Provides technical and programmatic support to a project management office to oversee multi-disciplinary projects for tactical ground vehicles. Coordinate with various functional areas (engineering, business management, test, logistics, configuration management, contracts, finance, and program leadership). Interact with the Depots, Program Executive Office (PEO), other Program Management Offices (PMO), DLA, ILSC, GVSC, and other Government agencies on a regular and routine basis. Assist with activities involving component obsolescence and life cycle, including identifying of alternative parts and recommend solutions, Maintain current awareness of readiness issues and problem areas for assigned platforms and work within the command to solve readiness issues. Participate in developing a Technology Roadmap for the program office. Manage and lead Engineering Cost Proposals (ECPs) or other Technology Insertion projects, tracking cost, schedule, performance, and integration.  Participates in engineering analyses, technical assessments, trade-off analyses, business case analyses, value engineering, and resolution of technical or operational problems.  Facilitates integration and coordination within the PMO, the Depots, and other external organizations.  Efforts may involve the development of new vehicle systems or the integration of existing technologies into existing vehicle platforms. Writing and managing statements of work and overseeing or managing contractor execution. Reviewing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for design intent. This position is at a client site but may have an option for regular telework.  It is possible that the option for telework could be eliminated in the future, so candidates must be willing to perform this role 100% on-site if required. Work with user representatives and formal DoD requirements documents in order to determine the requirements for a system development or integration effort, and then manage projects to implement designs that satisfy those requirements. Directly interface with the customer on a daily basis. Other duties may be assigned to support client and contract deliverables. Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Bachelor of Science degree or higher in electrical, computer or mechanical engineering plus at least 5 years of relevant experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance. Familiar with Systems Engineering processes. Familiar with vehicle systems and architectures. Experience managing projects tracking cost, schedule, and performance. Knowledge/experience in performing engineering analyses, technology assessments, trade-off analyses, business case analyses and value engineering. Knowledge/experience with system level obsolescence management and tools used for resolution and reverse engineering of obsolete components. Knowledge/experience in working with Logistics to ensure the vehicles get updated to the latest fielded configurations. Knowledge/experience with Technical Data Packages.  This includes some level of expertise with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, producibility, and overall engineering review for the drawings/specifications. Experience with military systems and leadership responsibilities in a large project or effort. Experience with requirements definition, derivation, tracing for systems and sub-systems.
