Job Description

The Data Governance Analyst, will be under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Data and Analytics. This role will develop data governance processes and standards enterprise-wide and plays a pivotal role in facilitating a university-wide Data Governance Council comprised of domain-specific data stewards from across Tarleton business units. The Data Governance Analyst will train data stewards and act as a governance ambassador to answer questions and provide support to campus. They will additionally lead coordination and training for the analytics user community within Tarleton.

The Institutional Data and Analytics office is located at the Stephenville Campus. Work hours are Monday – Friday; 8 AM – 5 PM or as work requirements indicate.

Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages Data Governance Council and project teams on implementation, coordination, and delegation of cross-project initiatives.

  • Owns and is comfortable with data governance practices and data governance and management systems.

  • Develops and delivers training for data stewards and the Analytics community of practice.

  • Acts as a data governance ambassador to campus, specifically through answering questions, troubleshooting issues campus wide, and championing new processes and tools for faculty, staff, and administrators.

  • Communicates issues/problems back to Data Governance Council and ACE to help solve systemic data problems.

  • Interfaces with the Transformation Realization Office to prioritize analytics projects.

  • Supports in the planning and execution of strategic projects as assigned ensuring that scope, schedule, and objectives are met.

  • Supports the AVP in facilitating Data Governance by developing data processes and standards.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of related experience in data collection analysis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience multitasking and working cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business administration or related field.

  • Previous experience with data governance and data quality assurance work.

  • Additional related experience in building & implementing policies, standards, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills.

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Attention to detail and use of sound judgment.

  • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills.

  • Outstanding working knowledge of change management principles.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Salary

Commensurate with experience

The target base annual salary is $44,212 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
