About the Unit/Department/Team When you choose Lakewood Health System for surgery, you're in the hands of experienced, board-certified surgeons backed by highly trained support teams and innovative technologyall at a convenient location close to home. Our surgical teams use the most advanced and least invasive techniques possible. Lakewood operates three operating rooms Monday through Friday, from 7:30am-3:30pm. On-Call OR staff is available for emergency procedures on weekdays after 3:30 p.m., and 24 hours a day on weekends and holidays. Sterile Processing is open to support the OR and other system departments from 6:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday. Highlights Include: Minimally invasive procedures, advanced surgical technologies and state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient surgical facility with a calm, healing environment where pain control, patient safety and infection prevention are our top priorities State of the art disinfecting and sterilizing equipment Mission for Position Learn the duties of Sterile Processing Technician I and II, as well as explore surgical tech roles to progress your career in surgery. Duties & Responsibilities Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies using appropriate techniques and equipment. Inspect, assemble, package, and label sterile instruments and supplies according to established protocols and standards. In addition, upon completion of training in as Sterile Processing Technician Level II, you will function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, assisting with providing care to patients during procedures scheduled in the specialty areas of Endoscopy, Pain Management and the Operating Room. Position Type Up to 20 hours per week, for 6-week long internship. Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; certification or associate degree in sterile processing or related field preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Physical stamina and dexterity to lift and move heavy instrument trays and equipment. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and patient privacy. Flexibility to work rotating shifts.
