Overview:At L3Harris Flight Data Services, we provide an outsourced Flight Data Monitoring service to aircraft operators worldwide. It is important to deliver insights to customers in a presentable and timely manner, enabling them to take action to reduce costs and improve safety to save lives.

Reporting to the Innovation & Product Manager, you will be responsible for the overall design and architecutre of a robust, scalable, and cloud-based data platform.You will be a Subject Matter Expert on Cloud Technologies for implementing and overseeing cloud computing strategy in L3Harris Flight Data Services.As the Cloud expert your job entails mapping cloud adoption plans, application design, and cloud management and monitoring.It also involves overseeing application architecture requirements, solution definition, as well as supporting development, deployment and sustaining activities in cloud environments.You will actively contribute your knowledge of modern software development techniques and technologies, to design differentiated applications that meet or exceed customers’ demands.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Leverage Cloud environment and microservices architecture principles to define and own Solution Architecture (applications and data technologies).• Work with the Product Owner and Software Development Team to design a full-stack solution using software that fully integrates with existing cloud infrastructure from data flow, security, DevOps, and other standpoints.• Propose solutions and best practices to optimize cloud presence, performance, security, and cost. Own architecture documentation for cloud platform and applications.• Set up monitoring and maintenance procedures for the cloud environment. Design a step-by-step migration plan and risk assessment from on-premises to the cloud. • Develop new specs, documentation, and create user guides.• Responsible for the creation of a well-informed cloud strategy and administer the adoption process.• Monitor and evaluate (e.g. performance and cost) cloud applications, resources, and software at regular intervals.• Develop and organize cloud systems and work closely with IT security to monitor the company’s cloud privacy and cybersecurity according to defined standards.• Participate in selection and collaborate with AWS partners for certain work packages.• Support infrastructure and applications migration into the cloud environment.• Responsible for spotting the cloud architecture solutions to effectively meet the strategic needs of the business.Technologies Used• AWS (mostly) & Azure• Python / NumPy / Pandas / Cyphon• Django / Flask / Celery / RabbitMQ• JavaScript / React• Jenkins• Linux / Docker / Kubernetes• Puppet / Ansible• Bash• Git

Skills and Qualifications• Education: Applicants for the Cloud Solution Architect role are required to have a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering, or in a relevant field. They also need 3-5 years’ work experience designing, executing, and supporting IT Cloud solutions.• Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.• In-depth understanding of cloud computing technologies, including knowledge of different cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and deployment models (public, private, hybrid).• Strong familiarity with enterprise architecture and enterprise application integration.• Expertise in data modelling and best practices for data management.• Experience with migrating relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including replication and backup strategies on AWS.• Expert knowledge of key security concepts, especially in cloud environments.• Interpersonal skills: The job of a Cloud Solution Architect will require you to work in a cross-functional team, as well as with various stakeholders, so it is vital that you can establish rapport and manage relationships with the people you have on your project team.• Communication skills: It is important that you possess good written and verbal communication skills to effectively articulate complex cloud reports and relate with clients, IT development partners, and management.
